The Ionian University is located on the island of Corfu in Greece. It was established in 1984 and welcomed the first cohort of students in 1985. Today it has ca. 5,000 students, of which 450 are PhD students. It is made up of five Faculties (Faculty of History & Translation – Interpreting, Faculty of Information & Informatics Science, Faculty of Music & Audiovisual Arts, Faculty of Economic Sciences and Faculty of Environmental Sciences) and nine Departments offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of study and summer schools.
The Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting belongs to the Faculty of History & Translation – Interpreting and is the only Translation and Interpreting Department in Greece. It offers high quality undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of study and actively promotes research in Translation and Interpreting, including Translation Technology.
