Maral's Summer Placement with EL-Translations
A dynamically developing company with an international clientele with more than 20 years of experience in the field of translation, EL-Translations was founded in 2001 in Paris. In 2006 the company was moved to Athens, currently continuing its activities in Greece. By 2016, it became the first company in Greece certified according to ISO 17100:2015.
The company aims to continuously develop and improve the quality of services, developing two interrelated sectors: integrated language services and professional specialisation of translators, by introducing a unique business model.
We have completed several training sessions with various CAT tools (Memsource, Wordfast Anywhere, MateCat, Xbench). During my internship at this company, I translated EL-Translations company’s website from English into Russian, adapting it to the Russian reader by using the Memsource tool.
This internship gave me a lot of practice both in translation and localisation, provided me with opportunities to study CAT tools and use them for various types of translations. It also helped me to learn how to organise time effectively and understand business procedures, as well as to realise the benefits of any experience for future projects and work, and how to use the acquired knowledge and skills in working with metaphors and subtitles.
