Colegio de Traductores
The Colegio de Traductores Publicos de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (CTPCBA) was created in 1973 to govern the activity of Certified Translators within Buenos Aires. At present it has over 8000 registered members, representing 34 different languages. The main role of the CTPCBA is to represent sworn translators, to foster research and development, and to promote the profession.
The CTPCBA has one of the most extensive specialized libraries in the field. It has its own publishing house and publishes an academic magazine and a monthly internal newsletter. The Colegio is a member of FIT (International Federation of Translators), a founding member of FAT (Argentine Federation of Translators), member of the Centro Regional America Latina (Fitlatam) and member of RiTerm (Ibero American Terminology Network).
The Colegio offers a continuing education program to its members in English, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Spanish and many more languages. The courses address a wide range of subjects such as information technology, communications, proofreading, economics and finance, localization, medicine, environment, media, literature, translation practice and legal translation among many others.
The CTPCBA has an e-learning platform to offer courses via distance learning and as blended learning. It also offers its members postgraduate courses in Argentina and abroad through a scholarship program. CTPCBA’s worldwide reputation rests on its ethics, professional level of its members and a consistent history of achievements within the translation industry.
